SteppingStones Playground for ALL – Morgantown, WV

Project Overview

The Stepping Stones Playground for ALL at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia is one of the most thoughtfully designed fully inclusive play destinations in the region. SteppingStones — an organization dedicated to recreation for children and adults with disabilities — sits right across the street. Together, they share a mission. Every child, regardless of ability, deserves a safe, inspiring, and joyful place to play.

What Makes the Stepping Stones Inclusive Playground Special

Inclusivity drives every design decision here. It is never an afterthought. Landscape Structures equipped this space to serve a wide range of physical, sensory, and developmental needs. First, the custom Inclusive Play Sensory Tunnel fills exploration with color, light, and texture. It is wide enough for wheelchair users. In addition, it develops auditory, tactile, visual, proprioceptive, and vestibular senses through self-led discovery. Every child who enters feels welcomed.

The ZipKrooz® delivers the thrill of a zip line in an accessible, seated ride. Children of all abilities enjoy it independently. Meanwhile, the We-Go-Round® lets every child — including wheelchair users — spin side by side with friends. Moreover, both features spark cooperative play. They connect children across abilities in a genuinely meaningful way.

Surfacing That Completes the Stepping Stones Inclusive Playground

Surface America poured-in-place rubber is used as surfacing for the entire playground. It is durable and impact-absorbing. Furthermore, it creates a smooth, ADA-accessible foundation that supports independent mobility throughout the space. As a result, every corner stays navigable, safe, and welcoming from the moment a child arrives.

Overall, the SteppingStones Playground for ALL playground stands as a landmark investment in the Morgantown community. It also serves as a model for what truly inclusive design can achieve. Sparks at Play is proud to be part of that story.
