Project Overview
The Princeton Elementary school playground in Suitland, Maryland is a standout example of what school leaders can accomplish when they show up for their community. Installed in August 2016, this project brought together nearly 100 elementary and middle school principals. They gathered for the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) annual Community Service Day. Working alongside Landscape Structures, these principals didn’t just advocate for student wellness — they built it with their own hands.
A Community Build with Real Impact
The NAESP has long championed the idea that school leaders have a responsibility to prioritize physical activity and outdoor play. This project put that belief into action. Nearly 100 principals showed up. They rolled up their sleeves. They built a playground that Princeton Elementary students have enjoyed every day since.
Featured Equipment at Princeton Elementary School
At the heart of this school playground sits the Smart Play® Venti® by Landscape Structures. It serves children ages 5–12. It fits into a compact footprint of just 46′ x 40′. Yet it delivers around 20 integrated activities within that space — making it an ideal solution for schools with limited outdoor room. Kids climb nets and work through belt challenges. They navigate slides and tackle overhead elements. They also find spots to connect with friends between bursts of active play. Each element builds strength, coordination, and strategic thinking. In short, the Smart Play® Venti® delivers exceptional play value without requiring a large footprint.
