Project Overview
The Parkersburg City Park splash pad in Parkersburg, West Virginia is a vibrant, inclusive water play destination where children of all ages and abilities can come together to splash, play, and connect. Installed in 2019, this expansive aquatic environment was thoughtfully designed to ensure every child — regardless of ability — has full access to the joy of outdoor water play.
A Rich Variety of Water Play Features
The Parkersburg City Park splash pad features an impressive lineup of Aquatix by Landscape Structures water play components, each chosen to create a dynamic, multi-sensory experience. The AquaGather Station invites children to work together, controlling water flow and discovering cause and effect through cooperative play. Dramatic spray features including FlashFlood and Curvy Jet manifolds deliver high-energy fun, while the HydraHub2 unit combines slides, tunnels, and hands-on water challenges to keep kids active and engaged throughout the space.
Additional features such as the FloraSpout, FloraSwirl, Ground Funnel, SprayShroud, Stream Jets, WaterWay, and themed SplashPack and Junior Water Jewel round out the experience — offering something new and exciting to discover on every visit.
Sensory-Friendly Design for Children of All Abilities
What sets the Parkersburg City Park splash pad apart is its commitment to inclusive, sensory-friendly design. Varying water events — from gentle mists and flowing streams to dramatic dumps and interactive sprays — provide a range of sensory experiences that engage children with different needs and comfort levels. Children who benefit from sensory regulation will find calming elements like the SprayShroud, while more adventurous kids can take on high-energy spray features and water challenges.
Accessible pathways, ground-level features, and elevated interactive elements ensure that children using mobility devices can participate fully alongside their peers. This dedication to inclusive design reflects the same philosophy we bring to every project at Sparks@Play — creating spaces where every child belongs.
