Project Overview
The Kentland Community Center Playground is a vibrant, inclusive playspace located in Landover, Maryland. Installed in April 2020, this custom-designed playground brings together climbing, spinning, music, and sensory play for children of all ages and abilities.
Play Features and Equipment
At the heart of the playground is a Net-play climber by Landscape Structures. This large-scale structure creates a hyper-loop of climbing and social exploration. Kids can crawl, climb, and hang across an interconnected web of nets and platforms.
Older children are drawn to the customized Netplex® structure. It combines integrated climbers, nets, and slides designed for active, challenging play. Younger visitors enjoy the Weevos® system, which focuses on balance, discovery, and early developmental play.
Freestanding features round out the experience. Rhapsody® Outdoor Musical Instruments encourage sound and creativity. The Global Motion® spinner adds motion and sensory engagement for all ages.
Safe, Accessible Surfacing
Safety and accessibility were central to the design of the Kentland Community Center Playground. The entire play area uses Surface America’s PlayBound™ Poured-in-Place surfacing. This system features custom graphics, an aliphatic binder for UV resistance, and a long-term warranty. The colorful surfacing ties every element of the design together while ensuring ADA-compliant access throughout.
A Community Destination
This playground is more than equipment. It is a place where families gather, children explore, and a community comes together. Whether kids are climbing nets, making music, or spinning with friends, the Kentland Community Center Playground provides a safe and engaging space for everyone.
