Project Overview
Guy Mason Recreation Center in Washington, D.C. features a uniquely customized playground, installed in July 2015, that blends active adventure with developmental play opportunities. At the center, a 14-post Netplex® playstructure with a custom roof provides a hub for climbing, balancing, and cooperative play, supporting children’s physical strength, problem-solving, and social interaction. A hillside Rollerslide delivers sensory stimulation and inclusive fun, allowing children of all abilities to enjoy the movement and tactile experience together. Complementing these is a set of Rhapsody® Outdoor Musical Instruments, which encourage creative expression, auditory development, and intergenerational play through sound and rhythm. Additional freestanding components like swings, balance features, and net climbers round out the space with opportunities for coordination, confidence-building, and social engagement. Designed to work with the site’s natural topography, the Guy Mason playground is a dynamic environment where children can grow physically, socially, and creatively while connecting through play.
