Project Overview
The 38th Ave Neighborhood Park playground in Hyattsville, MD is a vibrant, age-inclusive play environment thoughtfully designed to serve both younger children and older kids within the same community. This dynamic space combines imaginative early-childhood features with engaging structures for older children, making it a welcoming hub for families and neighborhood play. Designed for ages 2–5 and 5–12, the 38th Ave playground offers varied play experiences that encourage exploration, cooperation, and physical challenge.
At the heart of the 38th Ave play space is the Netplex® 14-Post Climber, a dynamic net play structure that promotes strength, coordination, and social interaction through climbing, balancing, and navigating interconnected elements. Complementing the climber are bridges, belts, and additional freestanding play features that keep children active and engaged throughout the space. For younger children, the Smart Play® Fire Station delivers a themed playhouse experience that supports early developmental skills through pretend play and social interaction — sparking imagination at every turn.
The Rush™ Slide adds a classic, high-energy motion element that appeals to a wide range of ages, while swings, spinners, and the inclusive Friendship® Swing offer additional ways for kids of all abilities to enjoy movement and play together. The pour-in-place surfacing, installed by Surface America, brings vibrant color and visual energy to the playground. Blue, purple, yellow, and red accents create a striking contrast with the orange play structure and green arch swing frame, enhancing both safety and playful appeal Thoughtfully designed to be fun and functional, the 38th Ave Neighborhood Park playground encourages active, cooperative play and serves as a lively community gathering space for families throughout Hyattsville.
