Project Overview

The Ferebee-Hope Recreation Center is home to a vibrant, welcoming community playground in Washington, DC. Designed with every child in mind, this play space serves toddlers through pre-teens. Dedicated zones for ages 2–5 and 5–12 give each age group the right space to grow, explore, and thrive. Younger children enjoy the freedom to discover at their own pace. Older kids take on bigger, bolder challenges. Every child finds their place at Ferebee-Hope Recreation Center.

A Community Play Space Designed for Every Child

Inclusivity is the foundation of this playground — not an afterthought. Every component encourages physical development, sensory exploration, and social connection. Play options support a wide range of abilities. There is truly something here for everyone.

Featured Equipment at Ferebee-Hope Recreation Center

At the heart of the space stands the 4-Arch play structure. It anchors the entire playground and sets the tone for the adventure ahead. Connected to it, the Swiggle Stix® Bridge offers an undulating pathway of pods and cables. It builds balance, coordination, and spatial awareness with every step. Kids love the challenge — and the motor skills it quietly develops along the way. The Helix Net® Climber is a favorite for thrill-seekers. Its spiral net design invites kids to reach, stretch, and push themselves. Open construction supports a wide range of abilities and encourages confident, self-directed play. The Curva® Spinner brings sensory-rich motion to the mix. Kids spin, laugh, and connect with one another naturally. Additional freestanding spinners and play elements keep the energy alive throughout the entire space.

Underfoot, Surface America’s pour-in-place (PIP) rubber surfacing ties it all together — soft, durable, and fully ADA compliant, so every child can move through the space safely, confidently, and independently.
